Q. Do you have anything to say about Y2K and the millennium?

A. First of all, it is important for you to understand that your ideas about time are arbitrary constructs. Secondly, the year two thousand applies only to the Christian world and the Christian calendar. Nonetheless, this is the world which has ascendancy on your planet at this time and for this reason the time frame has some significance. Because people believe, in the white, western world, that this is a watershed period, it becomes one. In the psyche of those who invest this time with meaning, unconscious psychic patterns are magnified, or intensified. It is for this reason that so many are approaching this imagined transition with fear. Whatever has been hidden or disowned, whatever has been ignored or avoided, is flushed into the open. The experience for many that life on the planet is not safe becomes the primary issue. For others, the issue is that 'God will betray us' - there will not be enough to go round. For others it is fear of other people - the rabble will get me, and so on. The eruption of these mind sets in relation to this time indicates only the underlying truths about life in your culture on this planet: that death is seen as an enemy; that in the face of plenty, scarcity is experienced; that love and cooperation have been sacrificed to greed and competition. If you pay good attention you will uncover whatever attitudes are hidden in your own psyche as you watch the unfolding of these dramas.

We do not see any major changes taking place on your planet in the coming time. That your systems of government are failing, that your technologies are being used in the service of imbalance, that ultimately your stay on the planet will end, these, yes, we see. Not only because change is inevitable, but also because you choose again and again against the deeper wisdom that would prolong the life of your race. That transformation is possible, yes, this we see. Openings for transformation are always available to you; there is not a moment when this is not so. That some of you will use this time as the time to transform, yes, this is so also. That some will use this time to act out the anguish and paranoia in which they live, yes, this too. But the fears that all your systems will fail at once is unfounded. There is no Armageddon here. The fears reflect an understanding that your systems live outside of cooperation with nature, and not within it.

Q. Why is it that we choose again and again to deny that we are being destructive, to continue in a way that shortens the life of the race? And why is it that so many people are aware of this and yet it does not change?

A. Your life on earth has always been short, it was never intended to be otherwise. By 'intended' we mean that it is in the nature of physical matter that it has a shelf-life, so to speak. That you speed up your own demise can be put down to bullying - you have not discovered how to deal with abuses of power and so you bow down under it and it kills you. As a race you have idealized strength over intelligence, ego over heart, cunning over wisdom. It has not always been so and will not always be so, but for this epoch, so it is. You do not understand what you lose in doing this. There is very little dignity in your world, very little honor, remarkably little self-love and almost no place for spirit. In many of your religions, god is seen as just another bully. The voices of aggression and separation are so loud in your world that they overpower all other voices. In time this will shift.

Wisdom, then, is in understanding the true nature of existence; in embracing death; in living life from the soul and accepting the consequences. That which is true in you is also immortal and timeless. When you know this you cannot be bullied because you have no fear. In this way you fight violence with grace. Once you understand that the physical world is nothing, you are free to live from truth. When you do, the entire universe supports you. Then your death is nothing. You cannot die. These truths are difficult for you to know because you are deeply attached to form. The structure of your embodiment creates the illusion of separate self and is designed to do so. Through this you 'forget' that the self is simply a small shard of Spirit in form. When you know yourself as Spirit, you walk through the world as a great mirror for truth. Whatever is false, whatever is ego - aggression, violence, greed, lust - these simply pass through you. You do not need to fight what is in order to engender transformation. There is no fight. There is simply truth. This is why we tell you again and again that the transformation of self, the letting go of ego, the opening up of form to spirit, is the way to change the world. And yes, when you know the world to be illusion, even then you are driven by love to embody and embrace the transformations for which you wish.
