You are afraid to care

When you listen to teachers, when you seek out wisdom, you are listening for someone who speaks the truth that you already know. You are born connected and knowing all that you need for a life of great fulfillment. That your conditioning leads you astray from this, that you must struggle to remember what you already know, this only adds spice to the soup, so to speak, from the perspective of Spirit. There is almost no one on the planet at this time who does not know that politics is for the benefit of corporations and not of people. There is almost no one who does not know that most politicians are dishonest, that they represent a club in which dishonesty and secrecy are covertly agreed upon and self interest is primary. These things are known and exploitation is understood. Why, then, does it continue this way? Through the breakdown of community, individuals are thrown into doubt about their own truth. They need someone else to speak it in order to recognize it as sane. Individualism has taken such deep hold on the populace that people feel isolated in their thoughts and their beliefs, especially where they seem to contradict a supposedly (as transmitted through the media) accepted norm. Many suffer in this way. Many suspect that all is not right with the world, but are afraid to speak out for fear of ridicule or rejection. What, then, is the solution? There are many levels on which these difficulties need be approached - questions you must ask yourself if you wish to come closer to your own truth:

1. at what price compliance? In other words, how many times in a day do you say yes when you mean no, simply for a peaceful existence?

2. at what price ignorance? How many times in a day do you choose not to examine your own motives?

3. at what price silence? How many times in a day do you remain silent rather than speak your truth? For approval, for safety, for the sake of an easy passage?

The slow erosion of personal choice, the reduction of lifestyle options, the hypnotic insistence that what is not rewarding is in fact rewarding, has almost completely eradicated the possibility to live in alternative lifestyles, and this in the name of individuality and freedom. In the name of freedom a cynical population watches an even more cynical elected government misspend, abuse power, pay empty homage to false values, and this is considered the order of the day. 'Thus it has been throughout time,' you say. 'Thus it must always be.'

'No!' We tell you. No! You choose. Every time you do not speak out, every time you comply, every time you pay good money for worthless items, every time you support a system of exploitation by buying, for example, goods made by people who are underpaid or in servitude, you choose this system. You choose it that you cannot make a difference because you choose passivity. You choose to not be responsible and to therefore let those without integrity be in charge. You choose that your interests be not represented and you choose victimhood.

This "easy" life that you choose is a life of misery. It is a life without reward or of empty reward. No material goods can compensate for the loss of truth, for the betrayal of values that you experience on a daily basis. Your children know this. Your children express the protest that you are unwilling to make, and they do it in the way you have taught them, violently and unconsciously.

Know this. What you require will come about. What you envision will be the case. It is you who accept without protest war, genocide, dishonesty and cruelty. It is you who have made a god of the almighty dollar and a Disney movie out of the term "happiness." We reiterate again and again and in as many ways as you will listen that it is you who create the world exactly as it is. Bring your attention here. Know yourself. Look within and honor what you find. In this way, the world can begin to change. In this way, perhaps, the planet can be healed. Whatever you shrug off, whatever corners you cut, all the ways in which you choose not to know and not to speak or act, in these ways you create exactly what you have. Take this to heart and you will change the world.

Q. I find myself disturbed by these 'political' readings. I suppose I feel inadequate to the task. Are you saying we should all become revolutionaries?

A. You misunderstand. When you ask for 'world' readings, the answer will inevitably be about social organization. But the response is in relation to individual realities. In order for you to change the world you must know your own truth. And no, it is not at the level of social revolution that we are speaking, but of personal revolution. You have all become slaves to convenience, and in so doing you have relinquished many freedoms. You are afraid to know yourselves for fear of what that will cost you. You are afraid to care.

Q. But how does my knowing myself make a difference. Isn't it actions that make the difference?

A. Both knowing and acting are involved. Because you do not understand the energetic realities of your world, you are unable to see the forces that create change. You are not separate in any way from the rest of existence. What this means is when you make changes in yourself, the whole is changed. Think of it like this - when you drop a pebble in a lake, the ripples that result effect the entire body of water. When you introduce a new color thread into a fabric, the color of the fabric changes. Thus, when you heal the splits in your own consciousness, when you eradicate, for example, war from your psyche, when you heal the causes of war in yourself so that there is truly no place for it in your world, so that you are attached to it not at all, neither through aversion nor through compulsion, then the entire fabric of the universe is shifted. Have you seen a movie of the splitting of cells in reproduction? The entire cell is in motion, each atom following its own course. But slowly the activity in an area multiplies, now several atoms begin to move in a direction. Do you see? It is not caused from the outside, or by any one action on the part of any one atom, but gradually, the whole is affected by the movement of its parts and the cell splits. This is the process of life. Your truth, your peace, your willingness to be fully responsible emanate through the whole and effect the many. You do not see this because you are committed, through the ego, to see yourself as separate. You are not. Not in any way. Therefore all these questions we ask you are challenging you to know who you are, to understand the implications of your moment-to moment and day-to-day choices. You do not have to go out and lead a political revolution to lead a revolution.
